A superpower we can all get

What do Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Mark Cuban have in common? Aside from being billionaire leaders in their fields, they read, a lot. Bill Gates reads 50 books a year, Mark Zuckerberg reads a book every two weeks, Mark Cuban reads 3 hours a day, Warren Buffet reads anywhere from 300-400 pages a day. When Elon Musk was asked how he learned about rockets, his response was, "I read books." Are you starting to get the picture?

High achieving individuals all read regularly. They read for knowledge as opposed for entertainment. Reading in the United States is at an all time low. Less than a quarter of all Americans read a single book last year and approximately 43% of recently polled college graduates claimed they haven't picked up a book since their college days. Yikes.

The benefits of reading regularly are understated. Did you know that reading regularly will physically increase the amount of white matter in your brain? This increase in myelination enhances brain function improving connectivity within the brain. Reading causes dormant neurons and synapses in your brain to fire and engage. Reading is an active action on the brain while watching television is passive.

If your interested in obtaining superpowers, start reading about things that you are interested in and will improve your life. And read as much as you can about it.  Reading is the gateway to knowledge which is the portal to you doing and achieving whatever it is you want. That's a superpower we should all have.
