What Do You Want?

What Do You Want?

The latest polls show that just about seventy-five percent of Americans are unhappy in their jobs and actively unengaged with their work. There are prevailing thoughts that people are lazy and not hardworking anymore compared to previous generations. I would argue that it probably takes more grit than many realize to get up and go to work when you absolutely loathe that job. People are hard workers, they just lack a few elements.

Many of us lack direction. We lack direction because we either lack a belief in ourselves, we lack a certain knowledge and we lack an ability to focus. We have plenty of energy judging by the fact that we work and how much we complain about our work. We all have plenty of time whether we choose to realize it or not. What we lack is directional application. So let's get to it.

What do you want? This is the million dollar question. If you can't answer it, you obviously can't get it. You would be amazed at how many people can not answer this question. Once you can answer this question, the wheels start to get greased. Once you can definitively answer this you know have a goal. An important component that goes with this answer is the why. Because the why you want something greatly impacts whether or not you will get it because the why speaks to your motivation and willingness to commit to get it. People work jobs they don't like why? Because they need them. They need the income. Create the the why to go with your want and you are effectively half way there.

Anything and everything you need to know is out there for you to find and discover. There is no excuse to not go and learn what you need to learn in this day and age. Technology has at least provided us with this. What many lack is the belief that they can do more. They lack the belief they deserve more. Once this belief is in place it becomes a foregone conclusion that that you will work to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for whatever it is you want. You have to ask yourself why you lack the belief.

Knowledge and skills are relatively easy to obtain and develop. It just takes time but we all have more time than we realize. Cutback on your television, laptop, tablet, social media and cell phone time and you save on average anywhere from three to seven hours a day! Put this time into developing your inner beast. Define and get into your beast mode, put three hours a day into it and watch what you become after a year or two. A year or two or three? Who wants to wait that long, right? What were you doing and where were you at two or three years ago? Time goes by fast as we all know. Committing to the process of developing your inner beast pays great dividends.

This notion that people today are lazy is inaccurate. I believe people to be as hard working today as any generation in years past. I just believe we lack belief and direction. We all have infinite potential just waiting to be tapped into. You just have to believe that to be the case and work to tap into it. Get inspired. Get motivated.
